24 Hour Exceptional Incident Report

On July 11 at 2:07 am, officers responded to the 900 block of West Broadway and the 500 block of South Extension to assist with 3 fires. Mesa Fire was extinguishing one fire when they observed a male subject walking away from a second fire; the information was relayed to police. Before officers arrived, the male subject possibly set the third fire in a City of Mesa recycle bin. Officers arrived on scene and located the male subject.

The male initially denied any involvement with the fires, but eventually admitted to setting all three. No structures were damaged or compromised. Two of the trash bins were large metal industrial bins and the third was a plastic recycle bin. The subject also admitted to officers he was on probation for arson related charges.  He was booked for three counts of arson.
