Media Release - Mother Arrested in Conjunction with Death of Child

On June 5, 2015, Andrew Isaacs was arrested for the death of his two year old step-daughter, Joylynne Giebel. The continuation of the investigation has now led to the arrest of Aminda Giebel (8/16/1985), the mother of Joylynne.

The investigation began in early June when Isaacs called to report the child not breathing. Joylynne was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Another child in the home reported that Isaacs hit the girl prior to her death. Isaacs also admitted to "rough housing" with the two year old. The injuries to the child were consistent with abuse leading to her death.

Aminda was not home when Joylynne was injured, but was home for several hours after the injury was discovered and did not seek medical attention. Further interviews and investigation revealed that Isaacs had a history of abuse to the children, sometimes in front of Aminda. Aminda did not report the abuse or take any actions to protect the children from Isaacs.

Aminda has been charged with 3 Counts Child Abuse, ARS: 13-3623.A.1, Class 2 Felony; 1 Count Contributing To Delinquency/Dependency, ARS: 13-3613.A, Class 1 Misdemeanor, 1 Count Permitting Health To Be Imperiled By Neglect, ARS: 13-3619, A Class 1 Misdemeanor.
