On July 24 at 12:54 pm, Mesa PD and Mesa Fire responded to a house fire in the area of Signal Butte and Baseline. Upon entry into the home, it appeared the fire had been intentionally set and that the property had been burglarized and several items stolen. It was found that unsuccessful attempts had been made to steal vehicles from the property. A witness reported seeing a small, white SUV crossover parked in the driveway of the property on the morning of the incident.
