13th Annual Crisis Negotiations Conference

On October 28-31, 2013, the Mesa Police Department hosted the 13th Annual Crisis Negotiations Conference in Mesa, Az.  The conference was attended by more than 260 negotiators from around the country and Canada.

One of the critical functions of a law enforcement agency is dealing with citizens in times of crisis.  The men and women assigned to the negotiations teams around the country respond to these events with the sole purpose of diffusing the situation and getting help to those who need it most!

A critical element of any conference of this size is the exchange of information.  Negotiation situations are very situation specific. However, across the regions and country, it seems that people find themselves in very similar situations. Being able to hear the successes and pitfalls directly from other negotiators who have been in similar situations is a huge asset when responding to crisis calls.

The 14th Annual Crisis Negotiations conference is well into the planning stages for November 2014 in Scottsdale, Az. When this group next gets together, who knows the stories that will be told.
