Commercial Burglaries - Suspect Arrested

On July 21, 2017, a commercial burglary occurred at the Pet Club located at 55 S. Country Club. Detectives obtained video surveillance footage of this crime and issue an attempt to identify bulletin with photos obtained from surveillance footage.

On July 26, 2017, a Mesa Police officer made contact with, and ultimately detained a subject who matched the description of the bulletin. Upon further investigation, the male suspect confessed to the commercial burglary and to a total of 8 commercial burglaries that had occurred in the downtown area over the past 2 weeks.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, has been referred to the Juvenile Court system for 7 counts of burglary and 1 count of attempted burglary. Thanks to the great work by all involved, many of the stolen items have been returned and the suspect will no longer be committing burglaries in the downtown area.

Robbery - Attempt to Identify



On 04/20/17, at approximately 4:47 pm, the victim was working inside her Water and Ice store, located at 67 N. Dobson, when the suspect entered the store.  After walking around the store for a short time, the suspect approached the counter where the victim was standing and asked her for change.  As the victim opened the cash register, the suspect grabbed a pair of scissors sitting on the counter, jumped over the counter and took a known amount of US currency.  The victim began to struggle with the suspect who then cut the victim’s head with the scissors.  The suspect fled the scene with the US currency.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, early 30s, 5'06" to 5'08" tall, approximately 145 lbs.
He has full sleeve tattoos and tattoos on stomach as well. He was wearing baggy jeans, black shoes and carrying an old backpack.

Negligent Homicide Arrest

On July 18, 2017, Mesa Police responded to 623 E Kino in Mesa, AZ
reference a shooting call.

Officers arrived and located a 17-year-old female with a gunshot wound. She was
transported to the hospital for treatment where her injuries were determined to be
fatal. The suspect remained at the scene and was identified as 19-year-old Luis
Angel Gonzalez. Luis stated he was picking up his gun and looking at it prior to
placing it in his pocket when he accidentally fired the gun striking the victim. Due to
the victim being a juvenile we will not be releasing any further identifying information
for her. Luis stated the victim is his girlfriend.

Luis was interviewed and ultimately placed under arrest and charged with one count
of 13-1102A Negligent Homicide.

Armed Robbery - Attempt to Identify

On 07/14/17 just before midnight a suspect entered the Circle K located at 417 S Dobson in Mesa, AZ and confronted the clerk at the counter with his hand in his pocket. The suspect implied he was armed and demanded money from the register. The took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene.

There was a previous armed robbery at the Circle K across the street at 2005 W Broadway, Mesa AZ on 7/6/17. The suspect was wearing the same distinct clothes and also simulated that he had a gun and made a similar statement to the victim. Suspect Description: Black male, 5’9, 150lbs, 18-21 years of age, Marvel Comics print multi-colored jacket with black sleeves, torn blue jeans, Chuck Taylor style flat dark shoes with white tips (photos below)

Fatal Stabbing Arrest

On July 15, 2017, Mesa Police responded to 1248 S. Vineyard #75 in Mesa, AZ
reference a stabbing call. The victim and the suspect in this case are brothers.
Officers arrived and located an adult male with a stab wound who was transported to
the hospital in serious condition. The suspect remained at the scene and was
identified as 28 yr old Felipe Barajas Ramirez. Once at the hospital the victim
succumbed to his injuries. Felipe stated he was in a verbal argument with the victim
over the use of the television and video games when the altercation turned physical
and the victim was stabbed. The victim has been identified as 24 yr old David
Ramirez.
Felipe was placed under arrest and has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree
Murder.

Robbery Arrest

On 07/08/17 a male suspect entered the Walgreens Pharmacy at 1159 E Southern and presented a hand note requesting Xanax. The pharmacist and an additional witness thought he had a weapon and would harm them if they did not comply. He fled the scene on foot with the prescription pills. Video surveillance was obtained and a suspect description was given. On 07/10/17 the same male entered the Walgreens Pharmacy at 1142 W Guadalupe and made the same demands for Xanax. Mesa Police Officers arrived on scene and observed the suspect leaving in a black Chevy Trail Blazer. Officers recognized the suspect from the 07/08 incident and attempted a traffic stop on the suspect. He did not stop and caused a collision at Dobson and Elliott Rd in Chandler. Upon further investigation Detectives positively identify the suspect as Angelo Moreno and were able to located and place him under arrest later that day. Angelo was charged with Armed Robbery, Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement, Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Marijuana. Great work by all involved.

Axe wielding burglary suspect arrested



On 07/02/17 a male suspect rang the front doorbell to the residence located at 2234 W Edgewood Ave. Upon receiving no reply the suspect entered the back yard and broke out the rear arcadia door with an axe to gain access into the residence. The victim in the house heard the crash and grabbed her phone, and locked herself into the bathroom. The suspect then forced entry into bathroom with the axe. The suspect confronted the victim while holding the axe and demanded cash/money. The suspect grabbed items and fled the residence.

The victim called Mesa Police and an investigation was initiated. Through the course of the investigation a 16 year old juvenile suspect was identified as the person in the video surveillance and probable cause was developed to make an arrest. On 07/06/17 Mesa Police Officers located and placed the suspect under arrest. He has been referred to the Juvenile Court for one count of ARS 1304A4 – Kidnapping, ARS 13-1508A Burglary (1st degree), ARS 1904A1 Armed Robbery, ARS 13-1204A1 Aggravated Assault, and two counts of ARS 13-1506A1 Burglary (3rd Degree).
