Homicide Arrest

On May 16, 2018 Mesa Police took a missing person report involving a 34-year-old adult male. The missing adult was reported to have the mental capacity of a 15-year-old and was last seen at an apartment located at 510 S Extension in Mesa with two known individuals later identified as 34 year old Tiffany Warren and 42 year old Jesse Dakins. Officers were unable to locate these individuals and the adult was entered into the system as missing.

On May 17, 2018 Mesa Police received a call from the Winslow Police Department stating they had detained Dakins and Warren in a stolen vehicle. In post arrest interviews, both made statements indicating Dakins had murdered an adult male (they identified as the missing adult) and his body was later disposed of in a forest area near Star Valley, AZ. Mesa Homicide Detectives responded to the alleged scene of the crime at 510 S Extension Unit 1035 where they observed physical evidence that corroborated the suspects’ statements.

last night multiple agencies responded to the area in Star Valley and located a body concealed underneath some bushes as described by Dakins and Warren. The body matches the physical description of the missing adult from Mesa but has yet to be positively identified.
Warren and Dakins stated they were each under the influence of Methamphetamine at the time. Dakins and Warren have been charged with First Degree Murder, Vulnerable Adult Abuse, and Theft of Means of Transportation. We are thankful for the thorough police work conducted by the Winslow Police Department and for the communication that allowed us to quickly process the crime scene and obtain the evidence of this crime. We have been in contact with the missing adult’s family and will continue to communicate with them as the investigation unfolds.
